Hi everyone, and welcome to the temporary web page for Vancouver's sub-competition of CHF's SHOW WHAT YOU KNOW CONTEST! If you're here, you probably know that if you submit an entry before January 31st, 2012, you could win a BONUS prize, in addition to the grand nationwide prize of an iPad 2! The same rules and regulations for the nationwide competition apply here, so you can find contest details and much more information HERE!

Some of you might be wondering, who or what is CHF? To give you a brief description, CHF (Formerly the Canadian Hunger Foundation) is a non-profit organization dedicated to enabling poor rural communities in developing countries to attain sustainable livelihoods. Projects are designed and implemented by entire communities, and CHF helps these communities to collaborate with local organizations and government agencies to ensure ongoing success. CHF’s focus on livelihoods is applied in innovative ways to make the world a better place; from building peace in post-conflict areas and reconstructing the lives of those struck by disaster, to empowering women and protecting the environment. Our vision is of a world in which the rural poor have access to land, water, energy, technology and the other resources they need to improve and sustain healthier living conditions.
More information on the organization can be found at their main website, www.chf-partners.ca, or at their special youth oriented website, chf4youth.ca.
Since Vancouver will be hosting a CHF fundraiser in February, we felt that this would be a wonderful opportunity to show off this city's young talents! It's a great opportunity to be creative, win some cool prizes, and help out a great cause!
If you're wondering who I am, my name is Shannon, and I'm a volunteer Global Educator with CHF. This means that I get to go around to schools and other youth organizations and talk to people about some of the issues in developing rural communities. The presentations are really fun and totally free, so if you think you might be interested in having one, all you have to do is book it, through either the regular, or the youth website!
If you have any questions about the contest, presentations, or the upcoming event, I'm here to answer them! You can ask in the comments, but I will be able to respond quicker if you contact me by e-mail at sdmcdona@sfu.ca.
Thanks for visiting, and I look forward to hearing from you!
